SoloDuo live in NYC – GFA Festival, June 2023: A review
There was only one concert on the Saturday schedule, since the day also included the final round of four contestants in the ICAC, preceded by the finals of the the International Ensemble Competition. But this sole concert was a very fine one. Simply invoking the name of SoloDuo, consisting of Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela, portends a concert of state-of-the-art duo plying. Everything was a gem: the Debussy Petite Suite, Piazzolla Tango Suite, and their miraculous version of Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique. A handful of other duos are on this level now, but none are better.

Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival: recital by SoloDuo (June 4, 2016)
Read it on ClevelandClassical.com
Most classical guitar recitals are one-player-on-the-stage affairs, so SoloDuo’s excellent recital on the evening of Saturday, June 4 in Mixon Hall at CIM was a double-your-pleasure, double-your-fun occasion. Italian guitarists Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli wowed and delighted a sold-out crowd with intelligent and probing performances of arrangements of music by Domenico Scarlatti, Vincenzo Bellini, J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, and Astor Piazzolla.
Micheli spoke frequently during the evening, at first to correct information about the guitars being used and to re-arrange the order of the pro… READ-MORE
So These Two Italians Come To Town – Urban Milwaukee, Feb. 18th, 2016
Italian guitarists Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli, who’ve won an international reputation as SoloDuo, brought musical enchantment to the recital hall at UW–Milwaukee on Tuesday evening. The UWM Classical Guitar Organization and the Peck School of the Arts sponsored the concert, and host René Izquierdo, director of classical guitar, welcomed a small but avid audience for an evening of extraordinary virtuosity.
SoloDuo’s program, except for the encore and the opera overture, featured arrangements of keyboard music; it was great fun to hear the two guitarists produce a stunning panoply of colors in this wonderful and varied rep… READ-MORE

Two impeccable guitarists soar together
BY GERALDINE FREEDMAN/For The Daily Gazette February 19, 2016
SARATOGA SPRINGS — A single virtuosic guitarist is one thing, but when you put two together — like Italian guitarists Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli — the result is more than just a dynamic partnership.
On Thursday evening at Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, these two guitarists who call themselves SoloDuo produced an entirely new repertoire few other guitarists would attempt. The concert was part of the Sterne Virtuoso Series.
Most of the pieces were originally composed for piano but had been arranged for two guit… READ-MORE

READ-MORE
Amadeus (Dec. 2014) about Soloduo’s concert in Daverio, Italy
[…] Spettacola… READ-MORE

“SoloDuo” zum Auftakt der 22. Ligita
“SoloDuo guitarists break barriers. It was a magical evening”: the “San Francisco Classical Voice” reviews SoloDuo’s concert
Italian guitarists Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli, the ensemble SoloDuo, have established an international reputation for exquisitely flexible musicianship, both passionate and subtle, as well as effortless virtuosity. They lived up to the billing in Saturday’s concert, presented by the Omni Foundation at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, which featured the world premiere of the newly discovered Sonatine by Alexandre Tansman, and a major but unjustly neglected work by Andrés Jolivet.
Tansman (1897-1986), a Polish-born composer with Jewish roots, lived in Paris for most of his professional life, though he spent the years of World War II i… READ-MORE
